New Section in the Library.

Dyslexic Friendly Books Luca with the new books Luca from R8 recently discovered the magic of dyslexic friendly books when he issued one from WCL. He found that the books were easier and more fun to read because they were printed on yellow paper, the font was easier to read and the line spaces were bigger. Instead taking weeks to read a book, now he was getting through and enjoying a book in a weekend. This was the start of a whole new movement helped along by his keen teacher, Mrs Burson. She and Luca set up a stall at the art exhibition hoping to get parents to buy a few titles for the library. Sixty-seven books later.......a fantastic response from the community!! Now there will be a special section in the library for the dyslexic friendly books. Check it out. They include many well-known authors such as Anne Fine, Cornelia Funke, Michael Morpurgo, Quentin Blake and Malorie Blackman. How it all began! Adelyn and Lachie have written about the new dysl

Creating in the Library

Room 16 creating a window display/shade after studying the illustrations of Eric Carle. Look out for the display in the library windows........ Room 5 children draw their vision of their zoo after reading ZOO by Anthony Browne. They worked co-operatively to create this great mural. View it outside the library.

COLOUR

C O L O U R Term 2: R1 and R5 kids are exploring colour this term. In the library we have looked for books about colour and enjoyed reading them. We discovered lots of picture books and non-fiction books about colour, colour mixing and artists using colour. A particular favourite was PRESS ME. Other books about colour we discovered in the library...... We explored colour mixing. We overlapped pieces of red, blue and yellow cellophane to create purple, green and orange window hangings. R5 students had a wonderful time creating art with puff paint (made from shaving cream, puff paint and dye). Some great new colours were produced using the red, blue and yellow puff paints.
